Dentistry at Base Hospital No. 45

This photo shows the dental clinic at Base Hospital No. 45. Following major offensives, when the hospital filled with casualities, this clinic was used as an auxilary operating room and the staff was temporarily assigned to other positions.

MCV’s own Base Hospital No. 45 was fortunate to have a relatively well-equipped and fully-staffed dental clinic. The unit was outfitted with new equipment before leaving Virginia. They set up a working clinic of the same quality as available stateside. During lulls between battles, this clinic provided basic care for Allied soldiers, prisoners of war, and even the local French populace.
