Cavell Nurse's Trust

Beyond helping the patient, Cavell was very concerned about the welfare of professional nurses. It was her desire to organize a fund that would provide aid and assistance to care providers that found themselves unable to work due to injury, illness, or medical condition. In 1917, the Edith Cavell Rest Homes for Nurses was founded to fulfill that wish. This organization has changed over the century, expanding the types of aid dispersed. It now operates as the Nurse Cavell Trust, which provides financial support to health care providers, as well as scholarship awards for those entering the profession as nurses or midwives.
