Harpo Marx (1888-1964) and Susan Fleming Marx (1908-2002)

Arthur "Harpo" Marx (1888-1964) was part of the family comedy team the Marx Brothers. He was the brother who did not speak on stage or film. He was also a musician and often played the harp in Marx Brothers films. His wife Susan Fleming Marx (1908-2002) had been an actor when she married Harpo in 1936. The couple were long time supporters of the arts in California and book collectors. Several years after Susan Fleming Marx's death in 2002 many of the books from their personal library were placed on the market. Special Collections and Archives acquired this version of James Branch Cabell's These Restless Heads. A Trilogy of Romantics from a rare book dealer. It includes the Marx's bookplate - an image of Harpo drawn by Susan.
