St. Philip Way

Following the demolition of the A.D. Williams Memorial Clinic at the corner of 12th and Marshall Street Virginia Commonwealth University explored options for presenting some of the institution's history in an outdoor venue. Recent landscaping around the Egyptian Building and adjoining plaza provided the university with the opportunity to create a defined pathway through the Kontos Medical Sciences Building outdoor tunnel. Along the walls of the tunnel, eight stories are told about the buildings and activities that once took place on this historic square. This online exhibit includes images of the eight story panels as they appear outdoors. To visit the the outdoor version of the exhibit enter the tunnel from the west end near the McGlothlin Medical Education Center or from the east entrance off the plaza.
