Published in the Richmond
Times-Dispatch, August 1, 1915 ("Suffrage Advocates Appear With Candidates"), the article notes
"For the first time in the history of Virginia, women have appeared before political organizations on the platform with candidates for the General Assembly, and have presented themselves as candidates for the electorate. Women asking for the vote have in other States have attended hearings and "heckled" the candidates, and thus have forced the candidates to discuss their question; but it remained for Virginia to give the women suffragists a place on the political program of the campaign."
